Take part in an adventurous guided excursion through the evocative archaeological sites and fascinating natural landscapes of Pantalica and the Anapo Valley.
An unforgettable experience immersed in history and natural beauty. An important protected area from a naturalistic and archaeological point of view, including the UNESCO site of the rock necropolis of Pantalica with over 5,000 artificial cave tombs carved into the limestone rock.
A visit to the Byzantine cave dwellings, the village of Cavetta, and the churches of San Micidiario, San Nicolicchio, and Crocifisso is very interesting. Of particular archaeological interest is a visit to the remains of the Prince's Palace (Anaktoron) from the prehistoric period, built under Mycenaean influence.
At the bottom of the valley, along the ancient Syracuse-Vizzini-Ragusa railway line, now a cycle and footpath, visitors can admire the lush riparian vegetation with oriental plane trees, willows, poplars, oaks, elder trees, and examples of Mediterranean scrub such as myrtle, euphorbia, mastic, terebinth, etc.
The lush waters of the Anapo River allow visitors to take a refreshing dip in the summer months and appreciate the river environments of south-eastern Sicily. There are many trails within the nature reserve. Minimum two people, half-day duration, independent transfer.
